At the moment I am working exclusively on a sequel to A White Picket Fence — I have received an overwhelming number of requests for a conclusion to Lina and Phil’s journey — there are so many questions remaining in readers’ minds that I felt compelled to put the other novels on hold until I finish this story. I am shooting for a December release date. Thanks for your patience!

Team Phil….so what do you girls think it will take for Logan to bring his walls down enough to forgive Phil and accept Liam? I’ve determined the only answer is time. Your thoughts?

Good morning Ladies! Are you done with the good/bad snowstorm Laura? I have a question for you. Remember when Tracie and I were going back and forth on possible scenarios when Kim first seduced Phil at the bar in NYC? Tracie was afraid Phil revealed too many information to Kim and I was wondering if Phil noticed her before that night and that’s why it was easy for Kim to seduce. You said no sharing with Kim and Phil noticed her when he noticed her and that will be in the book. Do you mean SN or you will add that later to the original? I think it’s important for the readers to see exactly how and when the affair started so we know what issues Phil was going through at the time.

Since you’re presenting it through Phil’s POV you are presenting the information in a new way…….The same thought pattern isn’t in play and watching what they have to go through together to solidify their relationship will give them both depth.

How do you think Logan likes having Phil back in the house?
I don’t think he does. He still feels betrayed and doesn’t understand how Phil could stray from his mom and resents Liam. Am I wrong?
He’s conflicted. He loves his dad but I don’t think he necessarily believes his mother should forgive him. Plus it’s difficult to adjust to not having a father at home and then have to readjust when he comes back. Especially an alpha type like Phil.
Laura do you think that Logan needs to see Phil break a little too?
I think the only person that has a possibility of seeing Phil break is Lina.
You are right about that….I know Logan will be fine….I’m just a little soft hearted toward him….
I thought about that a lot. I wondered if he felt he still had to take on Phil’s role of setting the alarm at night, etc. I also wondered if his feelings would be driven by Lina’s emotions. I think Logan would be cautious of Phil, not really trusting him fully. How will Phil convince Logan he won’t be weak again? He loves his dad though, he told Lina in Chapter 47 that it was better when Phil lived with them.
Yes, the old life was better. The new life comes with Liam.
Laura I need a warm fuzzy on Logan and Liam….I’m feeling anxiety. The only way Logan is going to truly forgive is seeing Lina happy. Phil has to figure out how to channel Logan’s anger and hurt so he doesn’t turn down a wrong path. Logan and Phil are going to have to have a monumental moment where Logan just releases his emotions and Phil is going to have to love him enough to let him. Phil needs to apologize to his kids too…..he’s altered their lives as well.
No one is going to let Logan go down the wrong path. Phil will have to do a bit of growing before he lets Logan ‘release his emotions’ (atleast at Phil) Just saying — he is your Phil so you should know that.

oh right. I forgot your favorite chapter when he does say that. One of my favorite scene is Phil and Logan having the conversation about the upcoming baby and Kim. That was a great conversation and gave me insight to Phil.
Phil also told Logan in that conversation that he would not lose him. I wonder if Katie is helping Logan with his emotions in SN? Matt could also help he grew up without a dad.
My daughter said today she was getting her haircut and the girls at the shop said they will be reading Laura’s books, if I’m blogging about it…those girls know I don’t do any type of social media…we are seriously like the beauty shop in Steel Magnolias….

A sequel is supposed to be a stand-alone novel. I hate sequels that recap original books — it’s boring reading paragraphs of back story. I read that the best ones present the old information in a new way giving the characters even more depth. It’s an interesting challenge

you make me laugh. Dippity Do!! Your salon really is Steel Magnolias. Order the apple. The minis are not as good so get the big ones. They are expensive but it should last you a few hours/days depending. Triple chocolate is my favorite. I swear I didn’t realize I was a sugar junkie until I joined this blog. Phil telling Kim off is my bedtime story. Haha. I remember reading Alison G Bailey’s Perfect series long ago and the same story was told twice from both MC’s perspective. I thought she did it so well because it was as if I was reading two different books. Reading how and what Phil thinks and seeing things through his eyes will be gold.
Oh I know it will be Lol….we started on this second blog with 7 comments…..I don’t know where we are now but last time I looked it was like 923. You will have to throw us morsels when you are writing your new books….since we haven’t met the characters, except for Nick, Janet and I will probably spin more fun scenarios….Lol

Update — 2/3 done and I know how Swimming Naked ends!
I am going back to the beginning of the book now. The first scene is about seven months after the last novel ends. After that scene I will say Seven Months Earlier… and start Swimming Naked 🙂 I will begin right where A White Picket Fence ends (with Lina telling Phil she wants him to come home). I want to see the early transition with Lina, Phil and the kids — skipping that is too easy and not nearly as satisfying to me or you guys. Wish me luck 🙂

Bahaha. I like thinking of extreme endings for Kim. As much as I want Laura to finish SN, I want her to keep writing. You know what I mean Tracie. I heard Carian Cole’s new book is close to 600 pages. Don’t think I ever read a romance novel that long.
Wow! That’s long. My editor said every scene should have a purpose, otherwise it goes. The one thing that really bothers me in a novel and because of that I’ll never do is repeat something — for instance you’re reading a book and something happens, then the character tells another character what happened — hello? I just read that so I don’t want to hear about it again — it happens a lot! I shouldn’t have told you guys, now you’ll notice. Also characters should never say hello and goodbye — just wasted dialogue. Anyway, my pet peeves.
I know I’ll be sad when this novel ends. You girls won’t be bonded to the characters in my next novel so it won’t be the same type of discussion 🙁
I know Janet, their story is going to be amazing. I really can’t imagine the ending right now. Liam loves his mommy so is it going to be extreme where Kim is so selfish she leaves Liam with Phil and Lina, or gets a terminal illness and for once in her life thinks unselfishly. After two years and no Phil, may be falls for another man and they both live their lives sharing custody. Two many options! Ugh. Can’t wait for my steamy scene though after Lina ask Phil to come home Lol!

Laura will the epilogue be an extended one? I see those sometimes and if done correctly are great. We started a WPF with Megan’s graduation, extended Epilogue could be Liam’s graduation, Phil offering Lina his handkerchief because he brought an extra. The Hunter kids there with their kids…….just awwww…my romantic side again….
Yes I love epilogues too. And yes what the heck was Kim texting at the baseball game other than you are a daddy because Phil was texting for a long time until he put the phone down. And if Phil was seeing Kim mon- fri why ditch Megan for her on Saturdays as well? This scene is where I got confused and thought maybe he was infatuated with Kim because Emily believed they were a couple by how they were acting. I’m getting worked up thinking of these scenes again. Lord!!

I can’t wait to read them. I thought of a question….after the game when Phil and Lina were talking and she said “with Kim”. He knew right then she knew where he was going didn’t he? I can’t imagine his thoughts in that moment, torn between leaving his wife hurting and having to drive to his downfall. Laura what were his thought on that drive to Kim’s?
As hypocritical as it was considering he was Catholic I think he was trying to figure out how to get Kim not to have the baby. That’s where his focus was — he didn’t want to lose his family

I want to be THE fly on that wall. Phil talking to deaf ears. I highly doubt Kim kept Liam because she’s catholic. Do you think Phil knew this about her when she used her religion as her reason for keeping Liam? Also, will we see that clawed neck scene when Phil breaks up with Kim or was that in the old version. I can’t remember now.

The clawed neck scene was in the first book but I said I would write it after finishing Swimming Naked. I think I will include the baby conversation in the new book as the prologue.
I plan to write all weekend and watch Chandler so he doesn’t mess with his incision.
So the little dog is better – minus the eye and several teeth that somehow got damaged during the two second attack. Crazy – one bite carried a big punch

Interesting about hello and goodbye being wasted dialogue. I never knew that! Also I just started a new book and so far half of the book is copy and paste on past scenes. I think this is one of many I won’t finish. I told you guys I’m not active on social media. I’m sure as long as your blog remains open Tracie and I will have things to say about every one of your characters. The football player Lucas sounds like he could be a cousin of Phil’s. LOL. Going back to this duet, Kim is such a huge part of this book. As much as we hate her we need her. In real life I want her to find peace and happiness. I really do. But in Swimming Naked I prefer her not to have this. I still binge watch Law & Order. It always makes me feel good that justice is served in an hour. Haha

So my daughter got her braces off and she can eat caramel apples again which is the first thing she asked for. You guys please try one from Mrs Prindables if you can. This is my dinner dessert and midnight snack tonight.

the big dog was a pitbull mix as it turns out and yes the owner was there — she felt horrible and offered to pay what turned out to be over $5K in vet bills.
You girls have so many options where to eat and gourmet Caramel apples Lol….I live in a town of 18,000 and the only Caramel apples I can get are the ones I make… talking craft caramels and some gala apples. Lol

Laura, does Phil see Kim each time he picks up Liam? I thought Tracie’s scenario of her wearing a red lingerie isn’t possible but it could be if she’s there each time. She can act like she just got out of the shower or got home to change out of work clothes?
Phil sees both the nanny and Kim depending on whether he is picking Liam up or dropping him off. And yes, Kim has opportunities to misbehave

Phil is going to have to reach a point where he understands that her independence doesn’t replace her need for Phil, he’s her happy. Lina said that in my favorite chapter, she told Adele..pretty much… I have my career and independence, but I’m not happy.

I’m so glad the little dog is doing good. I’m glad the Benadryl worked for Chandler. Sadie would be a nervous wreck if she didn’t get one during a storm. I’m doing good. My leg isn’t hurting at all, I feel like I could walk just fine. I’m not doing it though, trying to be good and wouldn’t want the inflammation to return.

Good Morning Girls, My SN thought today is about Phil and Lina’s growing pains. Laura is Nick the only reason Phil feels a little fearful about losing Lina in SN? I would think Phil may be a little fearful of any man getting to close to Lina. Phil never saw Nick coming and I wonder if he isn’t going to be a little hypersensitive to any man working with or around Lina.
Good question and I’m not sure if I have a proper answer. I think Phil’s issues center on control- when linas our in the world without him he has no control over the what’s happening
Laura I remember in Chapter 10, wherePhil told Lina to let him make it better and she said you are the one that hurt me and the only one that could hurt me this bad. Does his control stem from the hurt she endured during WPF? He didn’t protect her from the text messages or pictures. Nick supported her emotionally when she needed him. I think his need to control her well-being is at the forefront of everything he does.
I think he’s used to taking care of her and he likes to know he can. As she becomes more independent she doesn’t need him as much. I think that’s a hard adjustment for Phil

Girls, I just got to thinking, if Logan would throw Kim’s name out in an argument, why wouldn’t he say (because it would be innocent on his part), I wish you were more like Brian’s dad! Wow that would be a blow to poor Phil.
Maybe he did say that Tracie. He is not happy with his dad right now so he could have said it in their past argument in front of Nicks house. Also, Phil barred Wolf from knocking on their door. He or the 3rd party must be doing the pick up drop offs. This means Kim is not happy.
I can only imagine the swirl of emotions that Nick incites in Phil. The knowledge that another man would take Lina given the chance. The fact he didn’t notice another man falling in love with his wife. I always go back to my favorite Chapter 47 and remember in the picture scene where Lina notices the women looking at Phil, she never noticed before because he was hers, but that wasn’t the case anymore. It is like they both took each other for granted and quit paying attention long enough for others to infiltrate their domestic bubble. Phil took himself physically away with Kim, and Lina was emotionally drawn to Nick. The more we talk it out the more you can see the perfect storm brewing……

Oh my…Logan is using the big guns throwing out Kim. Logan is at that age he has raging hormones, he is hurt by Phil actions and jealous of Liam. Logan is sensitive and sensitive people tend to let things build, until they just can’t contain it anymore and then they break. Laura let Logan just spill fourth, punch a wall a few times and then fall to his knees in tears…he’ll feel better….Phil got to punch a wall….
I think Logan wants to punch Phil instead. Ugh. I get it. I think he was traumatized by the betrayal and then finding out about steamboat. Like you said hormones and anger, confusion, and most of all his love and loyalty to Lina. Also I think Logan is young and sees most things black and white so he is quick to judge on Phil’s actions. Poor Logan and Phil. I love the unexpected scenes so much Laura. That tells me this book will long. Lol

I can see it more after 25 years….being together that long they were comfortable..never SAW the Wolf knocking at the door…Lol The tension with Katie sealed the deal for Laura’s perfect storm in WPF. That is why I think they will be so much closer in Swimming Naked, because their second chance is life changing for them both.

Sorry. I just saw this. Thank the good Lord school starts Friday. Tomorrow is orientation and the kids are ready. I think all the schools are in session now. We always start and end late. Laura, I’m sorry for so many questions today but just thought about this. Has Logan mentioned at all about Kim’s looks or personality? I don’t think he will say anything(if complimentary) to Lina but maybe to Phil about her being pretty but that she reminds him of a snake or mouth off to Phil what he saw in that witch? No, I think he just assumed she was another mother from school. The tight smile was because he wasn’t happy to see Nick.

This Friday! My nephews started mid August like your grandson. Snowstorm and Kim. Doesn’t sound great but I’m sure Laura will add a valentine swoon scene for you. At this point I’m wondering how much can Phil take? Lina is being protected by Phil and maybe unaware of some of the things Kim is up to. Couple weeks ago I watched a 15 min YouTube on narcissist vs psychopath vs sociopath. It was interesting because I was thinking about Kim the whole time.

Janet we don’t have time for swooning, if Kim is raising havoc and discontent during the snowstorm. Phil has got to nip Kim in the bud….that’s why I would want a legal agreement with set visitation. I understand that with a baby so young, there may be times where they have to change weekends, etc and have to have some limited conversation or possibly text each other. If Liam hit some developmental milestone, Kim could send Phil a video and him reply “Thank you” or “Cool”. Kim is the type where I would want to cover all bases and leave nothing to chance…. Laura said full disclosure in SN. Phil wouldn’t tell Lina verbatim about there conversations, she wouldn’t want to hear them anyway.

Up to 12 weeks…determining on the blood flow being reestablished to the bone. They are going to check me at 6 weeks. If the blood flow doesn’t return and the bone continues to die, then a hip replacement will be needed.

My sister and I had to go up there and fly her down 5 days later and it was a nightmare bringing her back. Since then I’m obsessed about taking my glucosamine, vitamin D etc. I hope you will be OK. I Just got rid of 3 kids who had a sleepover. School needs to start already. It’s been a long summer for everyone. Oooh Kim! My moms fine now. She walks a bit like Humpty Dumpty but she’s fine. She didn’t fall far. Just slipped and fell but she had weak bones. Took fosamax for osteoporosis longer than she should have. Today is a bit gloomy here. 70 and cloudy. I got a pumpkin scone from Starbucks just now. Fall is upon us Ladies!

Janet I’m not in any pain now…Before the MRI and crutches, I was eating ibuprofen like they were Tic-Tacs just to walk. Now there is no pain..because I’m not putting any weight on it.
It’s raining here today. I did make it up the handicap ramp at the office prior to the downpour, thank goodness..Lol The office crew is having a good time with my hip misfortune. One individual wanted me to lay down in the floor so they could draw a chalk line around me, one came up with a fitted should harness that had two metal rods extending from my shoulders to hang bags on to improve my mobility and the list goes on and on……I’m so proud of them LOL…I foster this environment!!!!!

Laura it was like you said in your comment about to much communication with the Hunters, Phil has only one family and she’s not included, nor should even be considered. I really like the fact that Katie is all about Liam, that way Phil and Lina have a babysitter when they have social events or even date night when Liam’s with them. Now I just need sweet Logan to bond with Liam…..
Would Kim try to befriend Katie to get information on Lina and Phil? Plus, why would Phil set one of his kids up to possibly be emotionally hurt to ensure another one only stayed with family? Why not let Liam just stay extra time at Phil and Lina’s when Kim needed to go out for the evening. Plus that’s good ammo if Phil ever needed to file for joint or full custody. Who watches Liam during the day when everyone is at work?

Well girls my life happened again. About 2 months ago one of the kids tracked water from the pool through the garage (which is fine), unless I really have to pee…so I was speed walking to the house and I slipped in the water. That’s right…did an awesome spread eagle and landed flat on my arse. For the record, I don’t bend like that anymore. The past few weeks I have had trouble walking on that leg, more like dragged it. So I had an MRI and I cut off blood flow to my femoral head. So I’m on crutches for the next six weeks. That’s right…so no parties this weekend. My crew heads to the lake anyway and on crutches that would be a bummer!

I had an awful night, but things are back on track. I met a friend at the dog park last night and she has two dog — one is an adorable toy poodle. Another dog, there were only four dogs there, lunged at the poodle without warning and picked it up by it’s head. It was the most sureal moment I’ve ever experienced. I’m not sure what the dogs plan was but after we screamed and kicked the big dog it dropped the toy poodle. Unfortunatley it seriously injured it’s eye. They spent half the night at the emergency vet and I spent the entire night reliving those five seconds. I went and saw the poor guy today. He looks pitiful but I think the eye will heal — they’ll no for sure after the opthamologist Tuesday.

Was the large dog a shepherd? When we got our German Shepherd from our breeder she said that some breeds of large dogs. especially shepherds have a natural small prey drive, especially toward poodles. The breeder was worried because we had Duchess (our labradoodle). She never bothered her though. I hate that happened, I bet it was awful!

Yes the contrast between his interactions with Kim and Lina are stunning. He definitely has the ability to turn it on and off. He tells Lina as much as he needs to. Just more proof of their connection. Lina supports and loves Phil through all the crazy that’s Kim. Not listening for Lina is self preservation, just like she didn’t unblock Kim’s number. Kim would lie anyway and it would only cause problems between Phil and Lina.

Being a true narcissist, I don’t know if she will get it. She’ll blame Lina somehow. I also know people like her. More than one personally. And they always put the blame on someone else. Maybe in the dark of the night alone in bed she may feel the bruntof Phil’s words. But if she’s not done causing trouble or isn’t giving up on Phil she’ll internalize those words differently. How I don’t know.

I think you are right Janet. Kim likes to manipulate, she hits where she’ll get the most bang for her buck. The more emotional distress the better, especially where Lina is concerned. When Lina didn’t leave after the text messages and Phil threatened her with a restraining order, she knew she had a direct hit. But she had to raise the bet and sent the pictures. That’s why I made the comment about Liam, imagine how she’ll be able to manipulate a child. when she has the ability to lure a man like Phil and then manipulate his wife into a separation. Gives me the shivers! It’s like Phil and Lina have their very own Chuckie Doll!

Hi Liana, You remember at the end of Chapter 10 where Lina had gone to the basement and crawled into bed with Phil? Phil said she came to him because she loved him. Lina said I don’t know how not to love you. Phil said it would be unnatural for them basically not to love each other. Phil knows how to love, someone other than himself. Kim puts herself first. Kim can try all she wants, Lina is not going anywhere. Phil will be her punishment. When Kim targets Lina, Phil will go after her and Hell will be with him!
Sorry just a side note I hated the ever trilogy, the second book made me feel ill.

Phil will never bite again no matter who it is, Lina is all he wants. I wonder if Phil thinks not only has he done an injustice to his family by his betrayal, but Liam too. The more Kim’s personality comes into full view, does he wonder if his son is going to have some of her selfish personality traits? Phil’s time and influence on Liam will be limited. I also wonder if his dad brought that to his attention in their scene together. Laura you told us that they had to get their home disconnected because of Kim calling and the only way for her to get a hold of Phil was his cell phone. Kim knows Lina’s cell number because of the text messages she sent, does she ever try to contact Lina or did Phil have her number changed?

Something has to trigger a formal agreement once Kim finds out about Phil being back with Lina and Kim moving. Plus, if I was Lina I would want a formal visitation schedule.

I asked that question because in the Epilogue of AWPF when Phil asked Lina where she was….he sensed she had checked out….he’ll know the triggers for her…I’m anxious to see how he handles her in those moments.

Good Afternoon Girls, I was thinking about Lina and the various emotions she would be going through during SN! In the warning scene where Lina said “You have a baby with another woman, Phil.” I’m wondering if Lina ever feels like being a little bit spiteful. I considered that when Phil wasn’t happy about Lina going to NYC. Lina is getting some spunk, but is she throwing some spite too! That would be a natural emotion to me. Say he mentioned her not going to NYC, etc…If it made her mad, would she say “You had no problem missing me, during your four month sabbatical from our marriage.” I know Lina would probably regret those words as soon as they came out of her mouth. However, when you are hurt, your personality has a tendency to pull out emotions that are not a norm in your everyday life. I was just wondering if Lina had those emotions in SN.

Hi Girls, I have a Fun Scenario: Diane and Lina are going to meet Wayne and Phil for lunch in Baltimore: however, Lina has to decline at the last minute because she has to meet with Damian for lunch before he leaves town for business. Diane goes on to Lunch and meets Wayne and Phil at the restaurant. The three set in a booth at the back of the restaurant, Diane and Wayne facing the hostess stand. Diane says “That’s one of the most gorgeous men I’ve ever seen.” Damian is looking down at his phone waiting on Lina to arrive at the restaurant. Wayne looks over to see Damian break out in a wide smile and comments to Diane “Well he appreciates the view by the front door as much as you appreciate your view.” A gasp comes out of Diane’s mouth and she says “Lina”….Phil says Lina??? Phil turns to look just as Damian greets Lina and then lowers his hand to her lower back to guide her toward the hostess leading them to a table across the restaurant from Phil.

My son-in-law was over for dinner tonight talking about a new dog he wants for Dove hunting because they have a single short coat and can take the Okla heat. He has a black lab for duck hunting, but he doesn’t work him long in the heat.

I have no idea, it is just a season here in Okla. I know he only eats the breast of the dove though and he hunts Teal too. I’ve watched him train Reed in our pond, it’s amazing how he takes hand signals and no words have to be spoken. I don’t think there is a crow season…LOL. I got to hear the history tonight. He said they use to be used a lot in Okla when we had a Quail Season. Since they were ground birds they alerted their master by pointing so not to scatter the covey of quail.

I think he sleeps well. Don’t know why I think that but other than the time Phil lived alone and when he had to tell Lina about the affair he always slept. Men have the ability to compartmentalize better I think. Remember when he fell asleep before Lina after Kim called the first night? If the role was reversed Lina she would have stayed up all night worrying.
He does sleep good after Lina gets to her hotel room, but I love that he can’t until she is in her room.. He slept good after that scene, because he was still under the impression he could control and dump Kim. Lol.
He needs to know Lina’s safe. He won’t even attempt sleep until he knows she’s back in her room. But Janet is right — if he was upset about something, he’d still sleep.

I was thinking of the role reversal and remembered when Lina said in Chapter 1 this is the first full night of sleep she had in 5 days. Hi dudettes! Ugh just got back from San Diego. Never made it to La Jolla Laura. Had to stay around Carlsbad for a tournament. Boring! Also I had one ear that kept plugging so I was out of sorts. I’ll be more with it tomorrow.

No it was for fencing. He did soccer at age 4 and cried the whole season and never wanted to try again. In basketball he kept giving the ball to the other team. I couldn’t watch him without screaming. Again age 4. So I put him in individual sports and he seemed to like those way better. Has been fencing since 2nd grade and is pretty good now so I don’t mind watching him.

My daughter was the opposite. I really wanted her to play tennis and gave her all kinds of lesson early on, but she wanted a team sport.

Hi Girls….well it’s been an emotional weekend for me! Yesterday we had a family party for my granddaughters 19th Birthday and today she’s headed West to college. But I smiled the whole time and told her not to look any goofballs in the eyes LOL……..I was feeling a little bummed this morning and got to church and had the nursery. Sooooo I turned it into a dance party. Had a couple three year olds flicking the lights on and half I lined up the rest of my disco ducks and sang Staying Alive until I was hoarse! My John Travolta might be a little sore tomorrow! LOL.
Hi Liana glad you are back girlfriend! My mama use to say some people are just mean (same as your bad)! Kim is superficial and jealous. In Chapter 15, where Phil says, if you love me, why are you destroying my life? I don’t think she gave him an answer! Kim doesn’t care about anyone but herself. You are exactly right she wants the image, she want Lina’s life, but Kim didn’t bank on Phil dropping her and not looking back (except for Liam). She’ll be toast when it is all said and done.
Awe It’s so hard when they leave. You’re happy for them but at the same time so sad they are no longer close enough to see regularly. Nice you could cheer yourself up– it sounds adorable.

about Phil and Lina which Janice mentioned… I’m hoping they will have a strong bond emotionally.. considering they know each other for a long time… my husband and I are actually highschool sweethearts and I can tell you we have this closeness because we saw each other grow up.. so its like we fell in love with all the good, bad childish, grown up, aspects. So looking at Phil and Lina, even with the betrayal, in my mind they love each other not just for the wonderful things… so I think Lina at the end (after getting pass the hurting and anger) would actually be the one that will understand most why Phil did what he did… and the statement like you said Janice about Phil not deserving Lina… I think Lina loves Phil anyway.. because she loves him even when he was a childish overbearing selfish teenage boy… and Phil being Phil.. he is selfish enough to hang on tight to Lina’s love even if he knows he doesn’t deserve her..
about Kim… have you guys read indescretion by charles dubow? I hate hate hate that the mistress is the only one that gets to be all happy and peachy at the end… and she feels no remorse at all… so unfair…
so for SN (knowing in my heart that Laura will deliver justice!) I know that Kim will get Karma (I think I’ve written this before LOL).. even if people say “don’t always blame the woman (feminism stuff)” but I say bad people are just bad… whatever their gender is… in the real world there are “other women” that are not at fault (didn’t know the man is married) but there are loads that are actually prowling to hook men with families just because they are usually at a point in their lives that they have gone through the struggle… and Kim sounds a lot like those kind of women… she wants the big hotshot senior partner lawyer not the low level juniors.. so when talking about love defined by Kim is love for the image and prestige… and ofcourse Phil’s attractiveness also adds to that hotshot image she wants … that’s why she didn’t target Wayne instead…

And as this novel unfolds, Lina is starting to understand what led to the affair. I haven’t read Indiscretion but I like to get even. My Ned scenes in When I Saw You were some of my favorites LOL
Good Morning Girls, I was thinking about Phil deserving Lina. Remember at the end of Chapter 10, when he said I know I don’t deserve you. Lina told Adele I know he doesn’t deserve me, but why punish myself because I’m tired of pretending I don’t want him. Is that an emotional issue they are both still dealing with in SN? We know they love each other deeply, but them both thinking Phil doesn’t deserve Lina could be a potential stumbling block in their relationship.

It doesn’t cool down here until mid to late October. The deer hunters hate it to be hot during deer season. My son-on-law is a duck hunter and he hates hot weather in Oct since Duck Season start 1 Oct. I used to live Florida. I don’t miss the heat part of it. I can definitely feel fall in the air in Maryland. Limp disappeared during our walk lol. Just remembered I have to write a Kim Phil scene. My sister (who I read to now as I write it) reminded me lol hopefully it won’t be too long.

Janet what if??? The tie was pink and they started the affair in February. What if (because I love Phil) Kim gave the tie to Phil around Valentine’s Day while at her apartment. Phil wouldn’t take it home, nor would he even make a big deal out of the tie. So when Phil stayed at her place one night to catch the 8:00 am to NY (we saw that in the text) he spilled coffee on his tie prior to their flight and he didn’t have a spare to match his suit! Kim did though, the pink one he had no desire for and it was still at her apartment 3 months later! Since it was on Monday, that he wore the tie, he forgot all about it by Friday when he got home to Lina! That could happen!
That’s perfectly reasonable just like his stained tie in NY. I’m just wondering how he would have handled it differently if it was blatantly given to him as a present. I feel like Kim gave him more than a tie in four months. How do you reject gifts from your lover? Ugh.

Lina comes downs the stairs and introduces herself to the driver, which at the time tells her that her flight arrangements have changed and Mr. Suaveness has sent his corporate jet to fly her to NY, and that he would meet her plane upon arrival and escort her to her hotel! Went to meet him but he got caught in traffic from DC so I ended up staying at the dog park waiting for him and then letting the dog play. Finally get home sit down and then all of this noise starts in front of my place. They are doing some type of something to the house across the street. I’ve been derailed. Now going to gym to reset my brain. I’m a creature of habit

I’m exactly the same. I don’t like waiting for anyone — hair cuts, doctors, tables. I’m also always on time. The construction in my neighborhood is finally ending — so happy. The good news is that my dog is exhausted so I should be able to write for several hours without him bothering me!

I always feel like I’m letting you down if I don’t get the right answer (which I usually don’t)….Phil says that he is not ashamed of his son, nor does he regret him….but then I think, he would want to give Lina and his kids time to adjust to having Liam with them, prior to a public appearance. In WPF, we never got to see the Hunter’s family having a night out at a restaurant because Kim ruined the birthday dinner for the readers. So in this scene, the whole gang is out on a Thursday night without Liam. They are all having a good time with Katie hanging on to every word coming out of Matt’s mouth, Logan is discussing his schoolwork load with Phil, and Megan and Lina are talking about college boys. Then in walks Kim with Liam in her arms along with her sister. Phil who was playing with Lina’s fingers under the table grips her hand. Liam zeroes in on the family and yells Dada, dada. Everyone freezes except for Kim as she locks eyes with Phil and with a knowing smile puts Liam down. He immediately toddles over to Phil and asks to be lifted up giving his dad a big wet kiss while squeezing Phil’s cheeks. He’s kicking his chubba wabbas and looks over to Kim and screams Mama, Mama kiss Dada. Kim saunters over and says “of course baby. Mama always kisses Dada” while Lina looks on frozen and red faced. Everyone in the restaurant is now looking at their table. Phil’s thinking he’s too old for this shit. Lina’s thinking she’s too old for this drama. Kim’s thinking what a good boy, she came to the perfect place for a showdown.
LOL Janet — but half of this scenario is very likely to occur in the sequel.
Oh! Ok no more scenes for me. I was curious as how Phil and Lina would react to a scene like this so I’m happy we will get to see one. I thought of it after you told us Liam still loves mommy even if she doesn’t deserve it.

Just that little morsel lets me know Lina is taking care of Liam, since he already had a bottle and Phil was a sleep. I love it much!!!! Megan has no sympathy I saw that in the scene where she asked Lina to forgive Phil. Megan didn’t want to have to split her time while she was home on vacation. Not how are you doing mom? nothing….ugh….

It went right along with what he said in Chapter 47 about her considering a flawed version of him, was better for her than a perfect version of anyone else. This may be one of my favorite scenes Tracie. I so want Lina to gain her independence. She was attached at the hips to Phil since she was 15. She may like it so much she can do girl trips every couple months with friends or daughters. Phil can stay home and change diapers and soothe Liam’s colic! Poor Phil! Imagine him calling her at 11pm and Lina answers the phone with loud background noise and a guys voice coming through saying another cosmo?
I think Phil is secure in Lina’s love. But he couldn’t help but be a little fearful that she is going back to his betrayal ground. Bringing back memories for her. May be she’ll come home with Pink cheekies he finds her dirty clothes, while she’s in the shower LOL…you know Phil will be waiting to wrap her up the minute she gets home.
He better attack her. LOL. Good point about him being little fearful. It’s what Laura said about growing pains for Phil and also knowing Lina knows where two of the pictures were taken. Or one. Well this is the dependence Phil is having growing pains with..:.I bet she didn’t leave with out him before. Lina is beautiful and attracts very classy men. Phil knows the NYC type suits and depending on why she’s there, could draw some attention! So he is the one being left behind with the kids, this will give him a better appreciation for his LIna. Maybe it’s a new hot client that wants to wine and dine her???!
Perfect. Phil knows exactly who’s there. After all he fell in love with her at first sight. Business sharks are out and Lina possesses that illusive je ne sais quoi. Goodie. Good.
He’s not going to like anything about her going. Phil is the type to protect his family and he can’t protect her in NYC without him. But she will reassure him and go on anyway. She’s not going to do anything, he’s just nervous without her in his bed and his arms.

Katie could say dad…you went to New York and came back with us a baby brother, may be mom will come back with a baby sister, then flashes the picture for Phil to see…LOL. Depending on where they are going, Lina could be dressed in a mid thigh cocktail dress (smoking) in stilettos or some really tight jeans, with over the knee high heel boots and a white silk button down shirt….total opposite of black…. tucked slightly in, so men have view of buttocks!!!!
Good morning! So funny! I like the subtlety of Adele sending it to Katie instead. She’s a sly one! We know Lina has the cutest tush right? Kinda like taller ballerina gracefulness. In all seriousness though, these pictures will hurt Phil. He completely trusts Lina and vice versa but just seeing a picture of his wife with another man giving her a smoldering look(maybe the same lustful one he once looked at Kim) will jolt him. Laura, does Phil ever have flashbacks of his time with Kim ever? Maybe not in a good way but does certain events, places, or things ever take him back to the 4 months? Can you imagine him seeing those thinking Lina’s carried them there for so long, seeing through her eyes what she saw. A high pitched “Dada,” preceded a hard smack to the center of his face.

“Don’t hurt Daddy,” Lina said, laughing softly. She took the bottle from Liam before he could strike again.
“Dada!” Liam shrieked, a smile lighting his face when he realized his father was awake.

Sometimes all the steam is awesome, that is physical need gone wild. The quiet moments (to me) have more impact (at times), because that is emotional need.

Awww sister, I’m sorry you are so sad. But we knew their journey would be rough..since I don’t know the details of the scene, maybe it’s not the romance they need but the closeness. A lot of times couples will make love just to feel close, no button moment, just a quiet moment of coming together or her tucked into him while they spoon and just breathe each other, knowing no matter what they have each other.
I finished my sad scene, Tracie, but now I’m sad. It’s hard to write a romantic scene when you feel sad. Plus Phil is sad and Lina. I’m going to walk my dog. Hopefully we’ll all feel better when I get back LOL

Janet I have a scenario: Lina is on her way home from yoga class, she’s stopped at a red light and is hit from behind by a distracted driver. Let’s say by a kid that dropped their phone on the floor and was reaching to find it. She’s hit hard enough that her head hits the steering wheel or drivers window. (Cut brow, mild concussion, nothing serious.). Police notify Phil that his wife has been in an accident and being transported to the hospital. Phil let’s say he is at Kim’s trying to defang the viper over another stunt she has planned and executed. When the ambulance arrives with Lina, Nick just happens to be in the ER waiting room with the family of one of his patients that has tried to hurt themselves. Nick realizes Lina is by herself and immediately excuses himself going to Lina. Phil arrives and finds Nick with Lina, his hand on her arm, smiling with her, while the doctor stitches the cut on her brow….talk about awkward LOL!
I likey!! oooh and Nick in his MD commanding mode is hot! Meanwhile Phil rushes in and comes to a sudden stop. “You! get your hands off my wife.”
“Phil, I’m fine. It’s just a cut and Nick was here to help. Where have you been? I’ve been calling you for an hour now.”
“Never mind that Lina. Drayton, I want you gone.”
“Where Phil?”
“Lina…”
“Damn it Phil. Again? She calls and you ran to her again? Meanwhile I’ve been frantic that you may worry and have been calling you…”
Nick still has his hand on her forearm squeezing tight while Phil shoots daggers at Nick.. btw, did Kim hire this kid to rear end Lina and timed it just so to get Phil to her house?

My first thought was obviously she didn’t have any mirrors in her house and second thought was how many Care Bears did she have to knock off to make the outfit. LOL

Yes agreed that Phil and Lina are clearly meant to be together…I just think that Nick adds a great dynamic in making Phil vulnerable. He’s experiencing first hand the threat that another person can have on your relationship. I like the irony in that Phil’s had a purely physical, mid-life crisis fling with another woman which has resulted in a life changer, whereas his wife was close to having an actual romance with another man…
So while I do sympathesise with Phil in some ways, I also feel he deserves it!!! He didn’t just have a one night stand, he actually made a conscious choice to continue seeing another woman for weeks behind his wife’s back!!! It appears he was arrogant enough to think he’d get away with it – if Kim hadn’t ended up pregnant would Lina have even known about her?? I’m looking forward to learning (and understanding) why Phil carried his affair on for so long…not to mention when the remorse actually set in…
That scene with Nick and Phil’s confrontation leading to Phil injuring his hand – pure Nick hotness!!! Not only was he holding his own, he was also calling Phil out on his s**t!!! To me he’s the true hero and alpha of the story but that’s just me haha 🙂

I don’t think Lina ever would have learned of the affair (not from Phil anyway) if it hadn’t been for the baby. And honestly I think she would want it that way. And you’re right Lina almost had a live affair with another man. As far as the pink tie – they don’t think Phil even noticed the color. A tie is different than a shirt and a whole other whelm from elf pjs – in his mind anyway
I get what you mean about Lina not wanting to know. But wouldn’t that make everything a lie? That’s such a big thing, and it makes me like Phil less for never telling her unless he had to. To be completely honest and build a better marriage. Just because, I know they don’t have to go couples counselling, but for the affair to happen their marriage must have been suffering in some way, and that needs to be worked on?
There marriage was suffering under the stress of everything they were going through with Katie. Laura had-explained in an earlier comment that Lina was always mad at Phil and had turned him away in bed (no excuse for an affair) but Phil was being selfish and he was being pursued. Phil wouldn’t have told, because why would he want to devastate Lina with the truth? Lina was in denial as well and didn’t want to shake her life up as she knew it or believe that Phil would betray her.

I agree about causing unnecessary pain, but I think if the marriage should end there is a reason, and it is the betrayed spouses choice to have all the facts. I know some people would rather not know which I understand but to me that is not healthy as there is clearly something in your marriage that needs addressing, and knowing or not the cheating spouses guilt or lies will inevitably effect the marriage negatively anyway, and even if it is not confirmed the douses usually know something is wrong anyway. I agree with all your points, just in my eyes if someone can have a long affair and keep it a secret they are not worth having. I also have a problem with Phil’s affair as I feel it only ended because of the pregnancy. He claims Kim was only about sec and he felt so guilty, but how log would he have kept on seeing her otherwise?
Phil’s affair ended in the first pages of the book, weeks before the pregnancy was revealed to him. Lina alluded to this in an early conversation to Nick. Her marriage was back on track or something like that
Many men (and women) have affairs in the real world and never tell their wives. The men truly regret what happened but feel there is no point to inflict pain on their wives especially if the affair ended. Many marriages have ended because of someone trying to be honest. I like Phil because he acts like a real man. Laura does an excellent job making Phil seem real to me.

No I haven’t heard of it but I’ll check it out. Also I believe if Nick ever cheated he would come clean to his wife. Different personalities. But again I have discussed these issue with many women and men and most women I’ve talked to didn’t want to know. And I’m taking about real life scenarios where affairs happened. And I’m not talking about weak women either. Personally I would want to know. The more honest you are with your partner the deeper your connection. I think the affair will ultimately bring Phil and Lina closer
Good morning Deb, I have to agree with most of what you said, and you were spot on. However I think you’ve learned my little trick on riling Janet up…LOL. Nick and Alpha not happening then you twisted the knife when you added hero LOL! But you have to remember, Phil shut the affair down before Lina learned about the baby. Lina wouldn’t of confronted him on the text message. She didn’t even want the whole story when Phil, tried to tell her about it. Just me, but I believe his remorse started the minute she looked into his eyes in Chapter 1 and told him she loved him and took his doubts away. Nick does add dynamic, it was a smarting up slap for Phil. Phil sees just how special his wife is through another mans eyes. Phil is not only vulnerable, but fearful. Phil is getting what he deserves most definitely, but what makes him redeemable is the fact he’s man enough to take Lina’s broken heart and do whatever it takes to piece it back together.
Deb one more comment about the tie, it was so insignificant to him and pretty much a throw away item, that he didn’t think twice about wrapping it around the hanger with his dirty clothes. It was just another tie! Plus there wasn’t a picture of him in the Pink tie. The elf pjs was a photo opportunity, that he didn’t want to remember LOL!

I have to say I agree about the tie, I know everyone says it had no meaning. But in my head if it meant nothing either don’t accept it or bin it. He actually bothered to take it him and place it in their bedroom, it may mean nothing to Phil but if you are a betrayed wife it still means something. I just think Phil is a smart man, and as a smart man y don’t take home mistresses gifts. If he got him no gifts apparently why accept them? He has no problem being blunt when he wants l. Also if he found a nice pair of gloves from another man to Lina I’m sure he wouldn’t be flippant about it.
Missed this question before. So Kim gave Phil the tie while they were on a business trip. She gave him a new tie he wore it and didn’t give it another thought. I think it would have been something different if she gave it to him in a box at his office, then I would agree with you — he wouldn’t just bring it home.

I agree, he might have been in a bad headspace but he made months of mistakes, he must have been thinking and rational at some point. You starting an affair for months with someone and carrtong on for months is a choice. I know he loves Lina but it was not a one time drubken mistake or like he was forced. He made choices Evertime he texted Kim or went to meet her. I honestly think Phil loves Lina and he deserves redemption but don’t think he deserves too much leniency. He betrayed his family massively, and to be honest with another child with a bitch of a mistress, Lina would be beyond justified to divorce him (as you can tell she is much more forgiving than I am). However, I am glad she is not and I cannot wait to see them reconcile and grow together!

Well I know when he was upset after the wedding and Lina’s family was at the house, he had to go running to relieve stress. I also know exercise was probably a big part of his life during the separation or so Lina led us to believe in one paragraph. I would say he still exercises but not like he did, because he has responsibilities have changed and plus running around the neighborhood could run him into Kim.

Janet I wish we had a snippet for the sad scene. Ive been trying to imagine all day what the witch could of done to make them both sad. I imagine them being kept a part, when Liam was suppose to be with him. Like one of the other kids BD’s or family event that Kim agreed Liam could go to outside the regular visitation, then Kim jerked the rug out from under them at the last minute!

Phil will always be disgusted with Kim! I don’t think he’s upset with Lina! He’s tired of be fearful where Nick is concerned! Lina is his everything and now he called her. I don’t think Nick would hold back with Lina, if Phil ever let his guard down again. But Phil is not going to let that happen, if anything he’s hyper aware of Nick now. But Phil can’t say Logan’s going to change schools so I don’t have to see Nick, but family of mine the you have to put up with my mistake (Kim) down the road and be happy with it. He’s going to have to resign himself to that fact and Phil and Lina come up with a new battle plan to piece their families lives back together for a HEA

Laura our Phil will triumph I just know it……He let his guard down and allowed another man to get close to his family, while he was being selfish. Lina calling Nick is kind of unsettling for me. My alpha will see that as her choosing again.especially discussing their family problems (my assumption only). Phil is being hit from all sides, he is suffering the consequences for his actions. Me too…Phil is the only one for Lina. Phil was the worker bee, Lina was the full time parent. Phil even admitted to the fact, Lina was the better parent. I just feel for Lina’s character – her life is never going to be the same! She’s going to have a constant reminder in her life of her husband’s betrayal…that’s why I hoped she’d end up with Nick so she could actually move on with her life and let Phil deal with the train wreck of his…but I’m sure Laura will change my mind when I read the next installment 🙂

Hi Deb, I know how you feel about Phil, but he does have many redeeming qualities. He knows the hurt and devastation he has caused, better than anyone and he is suffering the consequences. Lina loves Phil and the heart wants what the heart wants. Thus the reason Nick wasn’t the victor. Lina may look at Liam at first as Phil’s betrayal, but then she will have to adopt the fact the Liam is an extension of the man she loves and not another woman’s child. That baby is as innocent as her own children. I like the comment about your husband being sick of talking about the Hunters LOL. My husband has decided he would just go with it and wants to know what’s happening in blog world LOL.
Hi Debs! LOL about your husband listening to you vent. Yes, this blog saved my sanity for the last few months and wish you were in US time zone too! All I can say is this. Phil’s POV. We need it!! When the pictures came out in chapter 28 I wanted Phil out of Linas life too. I remember when she crumpled those pictures up I thought what are you doing? He can’t see the pictures if you crumpled them up. Go iron them out right now or better yet blow them up to 8×10 and tape them up in the bathroom mirror so he can see it like they are x rays. No no no! But I knew they belonged together so I wanted to see how Phil made it up to Lina. Remember when Logan comes back from vacation with Phil and he said women were all over Phil and Katie said if Lina didn’t forgive him he would probably end up with someone else? I believed that and didn’t want that for Phil and Lina. And from the amount of tidbits Laura shared with us here so far I agree with Tracie. Phil has suffered enough. You crack me up, one post you needed to put on winter weight, second post you got cheesecake, third post you went to the gym to work off the cheesecake. That would void first post. LOL. Laura my son-in-law got his certification in clinical pharmacy, loves psychology books, etc…I am his experiment at times LOL. He said how do you go from giving a presentation to a room full of people and then flip to Minnie Pearl? It’s called diversity child…L

Lol. He works with doctors on their cases to ensure the medication is not conflicting with symptoms etc. Especially patients who have multiple doctors. He monitors their charts to ensure their medications do not conflict with one another.
Tracie, what is clinical pharmacy? Sounds brainy. I don’t know what that is. Basically I want to know can he give me flu shots and will he explain instructions for my drugs when I go to Walgreens.
Yes he can give a shot, but he doesn’t work retail. He works in a hospital environment, then he has a consulting business on the side for his clinical cases.

Oh I can’t have Nick end up with Lina because in my mind he is with Kathy now. Phil and Lina need to be together as much as I would love a prison librarian story! I think if I can do it all over again I would study to become a librarian. I finished After Hours while back. I liked it a lot and bought Hard Times(I think?) but haven’t started yet. I got used to Phil’s alpha barking-LOL-so I thought the hero in After Hours was a bit timid. He asked the girl’s permission way too much. Cara is an excellent writer. I will start the other one soon. Now, I’m deep into Barri Bryan’s Finding Emily. So far so good. Similiar setting as our WPF.
I was born in Seoul, Korea but came to LA when I was 8. I’m the eldest of 3 and we all spread out to east coast for schools then settled back home eventually because we all wanted to be close to our parents. Now my sister and I live 2 blocks from each other and the rest of the gang 10 min away. We definitely live in a LA bubble.
I think Cara is excellent at bringing a scene to life. He was a timid character but so endearing. I’ll check out the other book you mentioned.

I know Phil says he reads people for a living! But girls let’s face it, only a woman can really read a woman. Phil read Nick like a book, because he’s a man. Yes Phil could probably read a woman fairly well as an attorney, but not really get all the 411 upfront. I can tell you will quick, what I think about another woman!
Unfortunately, I have met Kim, well not exactly but women with her traits. Usually they don’t have kids. And men are blind when it comes to women sometimes.
My mini me has hugged me all day….But I have to look at going to college as another event in her life I get to share and enjoy with her. But her Mimi will be screaming for the stands on her first college game “that’s right, Who’s your Mimi?” She always runs down the court pointing at me….my eyes just watered like Phil’s in Chapter 47!

She going to West Texas and playing at a Jr College. Then going to the university they partner with. Her position is Post and they rotate from the Jr college through the university. Currently, her post is filled at the university. So her Junior year she will move to that team.

LOL Kim’s parenting skills aren’t to the neglect/criminal level. I’ve known worse parents. It’s just relative to Lina’s. Or Phil’s mother. He has nothing else to compare her to.
My daughter told me she was never moving out and then she told me she was never leaving Maryland, then the east coast — hopefully she meant that one because if she moved to California I would follow.
She went to the University of Pennsylvania which is just two hours away in Philadelphia but it may as well have been on the other side of the country — she rarely came home. Once they start school, they get summer internships and that’s it, they’re gone. It’s such a huge adjustment. One minute they are everywhere and then boom — your house is quiet. I just asked her about Lady M and she said she passes it every day. Enjoy your babies Janet! And I know Tracie will be shedding tears soon.
I know what you mean Laura. My daughter went four hours away to Southwestern to get her BS, then she did an internship every summer. She came home her freshman year every weekend until fall break after that hardly ever. She found her crew and was off and running. We bought a house in Weatherford and flipped it, so when I did go to visit her once in a while we had a bedroom. Then she graduated college and that same weekend we had to move her to Memphis. Her Masters program was on tri-masters. She met her husband while in Weatherford, he was getting his doctorate in Pharmacy, so she graduated her two years later moved her back to Edmond and she got married 30 days later when he graduated. She did move back home though, because her husband could make more In McAlester than he could OKC. So I’m fortunate…..
I’ve heard that — that kids come home. I guess I’ll see. At this point my daughter is all about city living. LOL
I think nyc is the best place to live in your 20s. don’t you think? I truly believe theres no place like it and everyone should be lucky enough to experience it- when young. Rite of passage and all that. Now not so much. I think your daughter will come back to her mommy. Just pray she doesn’t marry a native.

Was there a temporary one too for 4 months?

I’d say it’s in the first third of the book and she’s looking at his phone for a particular reason and it’s not about trust. And yes she will tell him that she looked.

Hi again, it’s Deb (from NZ)…I posted a few weeks ago and have just been catching up on all the posts…wow what a discussion!! Just to throw another thought into the mix, I was wondering about a scenario where Logan has enough of the stress of life at home and goes and lives at Nick’s for a while…I imagine this would throw a real spanner in the works for the Hunters…I would love to see the fireworks between Nick and Phil and also more of the interaction between Lina and Nick…anyway just a thought – like the others, I seem to be consumed by this story!!
I can’t wait for your next book Laura and would love to read all the parts you had to edit out of WPF…

LOL Tracie. Your stories are priceless! I’m such the opposite to your southern lady manners! Last year one of my molars cracked in half. At first the dentist said he could save the tooth and do a root canal but turned out I needed an implant instead so my tooth was extracted. I came home and the first thing I did was show my husband how gnarly my holey gum looked and described my 20 min ordeal tooth extraction. I’m such a moose! But that’s ok bc most days I barely tolerate my other half. Lol

Janet she will probably try to get on cases he’s on and leave voicemails, find reasons to pop into Phil’s firm. Phil’s mantra will be “Me and My Shadow”. Do you think Lina is going to be jealous? I don’t think she will be as long as Phil is completely open with her on everything Kim.
however, she really is just an associate with another firm so our scenario maybe farfetched. If they do bump into each other at restaurants Lina does have to brazen it out since Kim will prey on any weakness. Lina knows Phil only has eyes for her but still I would think she would be so jealous that Phil may see her on random days now. I say don’t engage in front of anyone. Ignore her like she isn’t there.

Janet Snippet time…..Lina is in Baltimore staging a few homes and Phil ask her to meet him for lunch, near the courthouse….Kim comes in with some associates from her firm. They are going to have to pass Lina and Phil’s table to be seated. Kim stops in front of their table (like most professionals would knowing each other) and turns to one of the associates, saying you commented on my son’s picture yesterday and wondered where he got his good looks, well this is your answer, the father of my son Phil Hunter. Totally ignores Lina…What would Phil do???? He would have to be professional, if he said this is my wife, it would humiliate her!!!

I’ll check back with you after lunch.” Then sit down across from Lina behind phil and goad her like she did at the wedding. But I think phil put a restraining order on her so then what?

Oh Laura, I’m not disciplined like you. I will eat one type of candy till I get sick of it and can’t look at it for a month. I do this with food too. I found one good vietnamese restaurant in my area few months back and I needed their fish sauce every night for a week. Then I refused to go with anyone after that saying I couldn’t take the smell of the sauce. My sister hates me and when I find a restaurant I like and comment on it, she just says just stop right there and don’t ruin it for everyone else. Going through major black forest gummies and peanut m&m’s this month. I think my only constant crave this summer is the fake iced tea.

Oh I got a story for you….The gum chomping reminded me! I had a temporary crown on my front tooth because my other chipped while I was eating an apple. We were building a shop house on a lake lot and the rain had made the driveway muddy and it was just a mess tromping mud everywhere. So my husband was having some gravel delivered to spread on the driveway. So we were waiting on the gravel to be delivered and were eating some ribs and my temporary crown came off. I immediately turn my back and pushed it back on it didn’t break just came off. But is was so loose, but my plan was to get some Fixadent on the way home, it holds dentures so I had this until I could get to the Dentist. Well the gravel came and my husband climbed on the tractor to start spreading the gravel, I was standing by the pile of gravel shoveling it into low places around the patio….well I sneezed and my crown flew out of my mouth and landed in the pile of gravel. So what are the odds of me finding a white/gray tooth in a pile of white/gray gravel. None would be correct! My husband said what’s wrong and I was trying to tell him with my hand over my mouth. He said let me see. I said NO! I look like something out of the movie Deliverance and you’ll never want to have sex with me again. So I wore a dust mask until I could get to the dentist on Monday. That’s right!

Why wouldn’t Kim want Liam to have any other last name? I’m sure she loved signing his name Liam Hunter on that birth certificate. Her territorial instincts came out full force thinking ok just one more name to change! Imagine Lina having to share her income with Kim? Kim wouldn’t buy formulas with it. Probably perfume and lingerie for herself. Ugh ugh! I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night thinking after 25 years of not working and finally gaining some financial independence, some of it has to foot Kim’s beauty expense. My mind is going wild.

Yes..I remember…You girls may think I’m crazy but, I want to take Kim on LOL…Well if Phil has visitation, Oklahoma also has a set schedule on that too…Every other weekend, rotate Thanksgiving, he got her on Father’s Day, picked her up at 2 on Christmas day and brought her back on the 30th and two non consecutive weeks in the summer. But I bet Maryland is different, plus who knows what Kim is going to pull. Phil will take whatever time he can have with Liam, schedule or not.

Janet, you talk about Lina struggling with all of this with Liam. I know Liam is going to be a real cutie, but I’m wondering if Lina will tell Phil (at first), that she doesn’t have maternal instincts for Liam and pretty much lets Phil take full care of Liam. Lina is a sweet humble person, so she would be kind and loving. I would love to know how Phil introduces Liam to Lina. Can you imagine the slam to Phil, when he introduces Lina to his child as just Lina……I wonder if Liam will get confused with the other kids calling her mom? What Phil will think/feel when he sees Lina’s love for her children, but doesn’t see the same in her eyes for Liam??? I’m so giving myself anxiety J-Girl…..I put myself in her place. Remember the shower scene when Lina imagined him planting his seed in another woman. I have got to stop, my gut is knotting….
You are giving me anxiety too!! You are so right. Lina is humble,loving , and a nurturer at heart. I can’t imagine that first meet scene with Liam. Her heart will pop out of her chest. Laura said Liam calls Lina by some special name and that it’s funny.
I know that is the only think making me happy…I wouldn’t be able to deny a sweet baby though…That little darlin is just like Lina and her kids…innocent. My heart would be bruised over the betrayal, but I loved my man enough to take him back, which means I have to open my heart to his baby as well (my opinion only).
Damien Rouse was the guy in Sense of Belonging, Damien just had a little snippet in a scene. I’m assuming he was friends with Tony and Joseph…so he is probably middle to late thirties. Janet I can see Phil’s families pain with the integration of Liam. However, Liam isn’t going anywhere and there will have to be custody settlements. They have been (I’m assuming) co-parenting for a year. Liam loves is daddy..so he had to have spent time with him over that year. Phil and Lina have been back together since April and not knowing the timeline of when Liam was introduced to Lina and the kids, they probably have had several months around him too! Remember Laura says Liam loves his mommy too….Ned was a total ass and he still co-parents with Lia and Joseph, but he isn’t mesmerized by Lia anymore either. There lies the problem…with Kim. But if we have to go full custody, I hope Lina gets to adopt Liam as her own. This is a hard call…..I’m anxious to see if Lina’s needs come first…
Phil was seeing Liam once a week at the most until Kim moved to his area. They aren’t co-parenting. Kim has full custody and Phil has visitation. Phil won’t have his first overnight with Liam until he’s back with Lina, so you’ll see all of that.
Laura…you could have helped a sister out with that sooner…LOL That is exactly the arrangement me and my ex-husband had with our daughter. Okay…I can start to see things clearer now. This is the part..we talked about early on…Kim going after her man and not liking the fact, Phil went after his wife instead of her and now he is back in Lina’s bed. Plus, Lina will have to put together a bedroom for Liam too! I thought the guest room was in the basement, but they have an upstairs game area too…..See how my mind runs a muck…..
Laura why did Kim move to Phil’s area? Is this a duh question? To break up Phil and Lina? Also how many wedge tricks has she pulled so far in the book. If we consider the move one and disconnecting their landline as the second, has she pulled more?
We aren’t in Kim’s head, so her reasons are a guess — my guess is that by giving Phil easier access to Liam, she guarantees she’ll see more of Phil as well. Yes she’s pulled more, but this isn’t going to be one of those books with stupid misunderstandings. Phil and Lina are on the same page and that’s a different page than Kim.

In WPF at the end of chapter 48 Lina tells Phil she wants him to come home. The epilogue is three months later it seemed as though Phil was back at home. Am I imagining this because I want it so badly?
You are correct. They were living together in the epilogue.
He was back him Deighj. Remember Laura is giving me a gift in the Prologue of a steamy scene after the famous last words “I want you to come home, Phil”

We also have to see how Laura is going to use the rich guy from Sense of Belonging. I thought that could be Adele’s man, now I wonder if he could be Kim’s love interest. You don’t have to be two sandwiches shy of picnic to know when someone doesn’t want you!!!! Wise up Kim!!!! There are three things that can happen here: Kim finally grabs reality and co-parents with Phil; Laura finds Kim a man (that’s a two drink night Laura); or Kim goes off the rails and tries to physically harm Lina because she won’t move aside and goes to the clink or The Retreat (I did Google mental institutions in Baltimore.)!!!!! Good morning! Just read the posts and Laura’s replies. I guess because I’m the salty one so I’m seeing some holes in your prognosis for this family Tracie. This all started out with a huge betrayal. It wasn’t single parents coming together or 2 divorced families joining forces. Even then most people enocounter trouble don’t they if new siblings are introduced. The circumstances of how Liam joins this family are so painful I struggle how Lina can come to terms with it all. I’m thinking time will heal and make it better but man I wonder how she will get there. In The beginning she has to do this for phil because of her love for him but maybe later Liam will just become one of her kids. As far as custody issues, I can’t see how they can coparent together. Who was the rich guy? I didn’t go back to reread the real estate tycoon part. Is he young and handsome? How can anyone normal handle Kim? Maybe for few months like Phil but for the long haul??
Thank you he’s an excellent father….I’m glad to hear Phil and Logan are doing things together. I love it….. Now that Phil has Liam and will have to divide his time..after breakfast on Saturday, maybe Megan could invite Lina to run with her, instead of Phil….That may give them a chance to form a stronger bond….I’m just guessing…but I bet Phil’s dad had something to say about Logan too….
Laura you sound like you are at the circus too…LOL No wonder Phil is in such turmoil…my mom taught me that the mom/wife is always the center and safe haven. They can make this work as a team. Phil may be the head of the house, but Lina is the neck and it takes the neck to turn the head….Phil will have to learn to divide his time. My husband was excellent at it when our family merged. My husband and son played video games together at night, eventually he worked our daughter into setting between them when they played and our son accepted her involvement gradually because she wasn’t forced on him. My husband also made time to put our daughter to bed, then he had time playing with her..saying prayer, etc…Then he would go in with our son and talk with him for about an hour prior to his bedtime. Since their age differences required different bedtimes it worked well for everyone. Sorry ranting again….LOL

Lina’s role in Liam’s life is a work in progress as is his role in his siblings lives. There are all sorts of issues in play depending on whether we are talking about Katie, Logan or Megan — issues of loyalty to their mom, jealousy over the attention he gets from Phil, dealing with what your friends think and just having a toddler loose in the house.
Child support in Maryland is at the judges discretion when the annual income is above $180K a year, which it is in this case. Money isn’t really an issue — and as far as Lina’s money — haven’t got there yet.
I know in Georgia the judges determine the original children and wife’s financial needs before a second family. Kim is an attorney though not earning as much as Phil. Will Lina’s income be considered?
Is the first family vs. second family issue considered in Maryland?
In Maryland they take into account household expenses (which would include his existing family). Having said that, a judge usually wants all children to live at the same economic level — the level of the wealthiest parent. Lina’s income would not be included.
I have one more question…sorry…I know Phil makes a lot of money, but in AWPF when Lina divided the checking account, Phil told Lina I was trying to build that account up because tuition and our mortgage come out of that account and the tuition is due in December. I know in Oklahoma, there is a percentage between the parents salary that is paid, etc….Will Liam’s child support put a stress on him building up those accounts? Does Lina combine her money back with Phil’s? I hope she does…..
Laura we know Phil loves and adores Liam…but he raised three kids as well…does he have any small feelings of his life going in reverse? Lina and Phil could possibly have grandchildren by the time Liam is in the first or second grade…..
Hi Girls, we missed you last night Janet. I don’t think Kim being the mother will effect their love for Liam. They won’t have that much contact with Kim (or shouldn’t), that is Phil’s responsibility. Any contact they have with be minimal, greeting at the Christmas Play in passing, etc. Family activities including Liam will be with Phil and Lina and their kids. Phil’s parents loyalty and affections lies with Lina, they will be polite to Kim, but not affectionate. Kim’s their grandson’s mother, not their family. That’s the concept Kim has to understand Phil is not her family he was her sperm donor. The only contact they should have is in relation to Liam. They don’t live in Utah, this isn’t the Sister Wives…LOL Laura, I’m also trying to figure out how Lina is navigating all of this drama. Is she staying her course that she was on before Phil came back home. Work, yoga, weekend nights with the kids and their friends hanging out at the house? I’m also wondering in the early portions of the book if the kids segregate themselves with their mom, and leave Phil and Liam dangling out like a sheet in the wind. I wondering if Phil is helping Lina find a place in Liam’s life. What role does he want her to fill in regards to Liam? What does Phil except out of Lina? So much I can’t wait to find out..Phil’s dad being disappointed in him (in my opinion) is going to be a big hit to my alpha. I’m still torn on the custody issues Janet we’ll have to think it through.
Laura I hope Lina can soothe some of Phil’s hurt today. Does Phil realize she’s in for the HEA or will she have to convince him?
Hi! We are all in sync today. So tired and just got home and downed half a gallon of lemon iced tea crystal light. It’s so good you guys. So that’s my wine for tonight. I honestly can’t imagine how authors do this for months. Just thinking how this sequel will turn out drives me nuts!! I can’t wait to see the dynamics of Phil’s family. This maybe a weird questions but I wonder can Phil’s parents love Liam equally knowing his mother is Kim? I tried putting myself in that situation and I couldn’t.

I am too and I just know the very basic. Can you tell me if Lina will be nearby after the talk with his dad, This is what I mean when I say Lina will have to help him forgive himself. Plus he has a child that only gets to see him part-time and depending on how the book infolds for you he may have to ask Lina to give up her time and life as she knows it to raise another child. Plus three other children trying to find their new rhythm as well and come to terms with what he has done to them as a family. Talk about emotional overload.
Lina is nearby so I get to write that one tomorrow. All I will say is our Phil has had a rough few days.

Your subconscious may already tell you where it’s going. Liam loves his mommy, even though she doesn’t deserve it. I’ve always felt torn about this with Liam. Lina deserves her happiness too! Phil will be bothered by the fact he is a part time dad, but he will still be a good dad. Plus him and Lina will get sometime a lone after Logan goes to college. Kim has to be contained and a new norm established or no one will be happy. Plus. Phil better take Lina to Liam’s school programs, etc LOL. I’m just saying. He can’t have two families……Liam is part of his and Lina’s family!
I think all children love their parents whether they deserve that love or not. I know there will be a HEA I just don’t have a true handle on the Liam piece. I thought I did but my subconscious is throwing out curve balls
My mom use to say even an abused child will try and seek the parents love and approval. You will have a handle, your curve balls make you unique! That’s what we all love about you and your incredible stories!

I had to have some cabby savvy myself when I finally got home. I knew the dad wisdom would be a tough scene for you to write. Just knowing how I felt when I disappointed my parents when I was a kid was rough, as an adult it was almost traumatic. Phil has always excelled at everything, I can’t imagine the image he has of himself right now. I hope his dad told him to put his wife first and all else will follow. I hope Phil is humbled by the fact that Lina taking him back and forgiving him means trusting him to prove to her, he’s still the man she married. Lina said that several times in AWPF that he wasn’t the man she thought he was.
Hi girls, I’m having withdrawals from you guys! This has been one of the days where my evil twin TBT (That Bitch Tracie) had to go to work and remind everybody. that where else could you go to a circus everyday and get paid to go….if I wanted to be around sloths I would go to the damn zoo! Sorry for the rant, but you can see how bad my days been I haven’t posted since 10:14 my time! But here is what I was thinking to say since I felt like I was managing a daycare today. You know how your kids would cling to you as babies when they didn’t want to be left, Well I’m wondering if Liam will do that when Phil has to take Liam back to Kim? What do you girls think? I bet Phil felt the same way when he made her leave his brothers house at the end of the surgery scene. When she said do you really want me to leave and he said yes….when that bedroom door closed behind Lina..I wonder if he thought please God don’t let me push her into another man’s arms?
Phil’s selfish decision gave Lina no choice but to gain her own independence. I would think that weights on him, knowing she had to become independent, because of the fact he broke his promises to her. What were Phil’s thoughts when she called him (at night) right after the separation and was having the anxiety attack? Especially when she said, you weren’t here and I panicked!
Major guilt and sadness.
Laura is Phil’s own guilt fueling his fear of losing Lina? Could he be thinking a little like Adele, and scared she would have revenge sex if given the right opportunity? I know Lina never would; however, guilt is a mighty powerful emotion. I think for Phil, losing Lina again would not be an option.
No it’s more the reality that he could (because he almost did) and growing pains as she gets more independent

My swoon scene was epic Phil is smoking! Tomorrow night I might tell you girls about my last appointment with my GYN before he retired and brought the new guy into meet me. He had to put up with me and my antics for 20 years, but he was not only a MD that specialized in OB/GYN, but he was also an attorney! That’s right and no I didn’t go for my appointments in a warehouse!

I promised Laura a story yesterday for my swoon scene (which I’ve read 5 more times today) and I have not paid up yet….I promised Laura this one first Janet….Okay so my husband had a bad earache, it’s was on a Sunday so he would just have to wait until Monday to go to the doctor. He said and I quote “Babe I Just need you to work some magic, my ear is killing me.” Already gave him ibuprofen for inflammation, so I said well my mom use to pour a small amount of melted Vick’s in my ear and it always made it feel better. He said ok do it! Well mama put a little bit in a teaspoon and ran a lighter under the spoon to melt the Vick’s and then tested the Vick’s with her finger before she pour it in our ear. Well I didn’t have a lighter, but I did have a gas range. So I melted the Vick’s over the burner and waited a minute and tested to make sure it was good to pour into his ear! But you guessed it I did make a mistake! I poured the Vick’s into his ear and the minute I did, he screamed out like a gut shot panther. Started doing the crappie flop all over the living room and ended up in the fetal position. I’m standing up say get up you big suck baby it can’t be that bad! Well it was, his ear canal immediately closed up and his ear was blood red. He said suck baby, you scalded my ear. My mistake was, I didn’t put my finger to the bottom of the spoon just the top. So when I got him to our family physician the next day, he informed me that I gave him Third degree burns all the way down his ear canal and it was blistered. Our DR said Tracie what where you thinking, everything is connected you could of abscessed his brain! Don’t ever put anything in anyone’s ear. So I had to monitor his temperature for 48 hours to ensure there was not an abscess. To this day he doesn’t want Vick’s in the house! The end!
OMG — well worth the swoon scene. Unbelievable — I laughed at first, but then I cringed. I can’t imagine how much that would hurt! And seriously, does melted Vicks actually work?

Laura, can you have some young hot guy fall in lust with Lina in front of Phil’s eyes? We know Nick fell in love with her and I loved seeing Phil’s jealous reaction. Since we only got Lina’s POV in WPF, we kept seeing how hot Phil(and Kim as well) is but not much about Lina other than that one comment Phil made in the beginning about her being beautiful. I always imagined Lina having ethereal beauty (her spine of steel will be showcased in SN)as opposed to Kim’s earthy one. What I was thinking is something like a young, hot, new associate(Harvard Law grad plucked from his father’s firm in Boston, age 33ish?) doing a double take when he sees her at the office Christmas party and making a comment like who’s that gorgeous chick and which department is she in? Is she seeing anyone?” etc.. giving her a once over not knowing Phil is standing right behind him. Later that night when they are introduced, with Phil glued next to her, the guy holds on to Lina’s hand a second longer than is appropriate because he can’t help himself and of course Lina blushes. And there goes Phil’s blood vessels. I don’t care where what and how. Just have someone young and hot lust after Lina and make sure Phil sees it. I know Phil doesn’t take Lina’s love for granted anymore but I wanna see guys mooning over Lina too!

I don’t know why phil has to keep running over there! Laura would say girls are you guessing? When did he run over?! LOL. I do t like Phil running to Kim’s unless it’s to give her verbal smacks. The middle of the night thing should be dealt with night nurses. If Kim’s working she needs help day and night so she can get her beauty sleep right? No, there’s no restriction — it’s just kind of a rule of thumb and the cost isn’t really even an issue. A lot of books have many unnecessary scene or descriptions — too much sometimes takes away from the story — nothing worse than scenes that drag — if a conversation goes on too long it takes away the punch or message. This book will be as long as it needs to be.
Steal away my sister…..kids are cruel and i know that stuff happens everyday. My grandkids tell me stuff about what they see in High School it’s a sad deal. Phil could even be called in by the Lacrosse coach and him tell Phil how awful it was for Logan and how they trashed Lina. My daughter went to a private school and they had zero tolerance on fighting as well.
Here is something else that could happen in the whole saga, what would preclude Logan from coming home from school with a busted lip or black eye, because a cruel kid gave his own parents opinion of Phil and Lina situations. Logan relating the story to Phil, verses Lina because the comments were demeaning to his mom. Logan could tell his dad, they said mom was pathetic for taking you back and raising your illegitimate kid. They’ve seen your car at her house at night and said to give mom their cell phone number , so they could take care of her when you were busy with your baby mama! I could see that happening. Logan would protect his mom in a heartbeat.

Phil being fearful ? of losing Lina even in SN will make him humble, only with her though. I noticed in the scene today Lina didn’t say she loves him back, just I know. That would make me a little fearful too, if I were Phil. Does Kim use endearments when talking with Phil? Sweetheart, I love you coming out of Kim’s mouth to Phil could me gag!
This gets on my nerves big time! I don’t think Phil lets Kim call him anything now but how about when they were together? I had no idea the mention of Kim being Catholic was cut from WPF. This was the original…

I’d like to point something else out. I was raised in and still live in the area where this story takes place. Their house is actually located on one of my sister’s streets (funny too because I didn’t tell her but she kind of figured it out). Anyway, this area doesn’t have a small town feel (we are just a suburb of Washington or Baltimore) and that translates to the Catholic Church — it’s not like everyone knows everyone. I’m not sure how all this is going to play out, but I just wanted to throw that out there.

guys, guys I’m here!! Have been refreshing on and off all day but couldn’t post till I slapped some butter on salmon and slammed the toaster oven shut. OK. Let me recap. First, good one Deighj for getting Laura to tell us Kim’s catholic! Never saw that coming just like the steamboat one day timeline. This devil is racking up points for judgement day and I’m going crazy thinking of ways how Lina will wrap all this up! I have to keep repeating keep it real, real but drawing a blank other than Kim ending up in the psych ward somewhere very cold and remote! I hate the fact that church will be one of the places where Lina will face public humiliation. How can they go back there afterwards and get the kids to remain in the church? Maybe turn the blame game around to Kim and let her be the one to be humiliated by the congregation? She’s not easily intimidated but at least this may embarrass her.
I read a quote recently by Robert Frost that sums up my feelings about Kim perfectly. “I didn’t go to the funeral but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it.”

I thought today after reading the scene (thank you Laura, I’ve read it like 12 times), that Phil’s insecurities with Nick ( school situation), could stem from the fact , his attention can’t be totally on Lina (I missed my husband.) Where Nick could give her his undivided attention!

Kim is not only doing the old wedge trick to just run Lina off. she is also calling at odd hours hoping she interrupts them in the act. I bet Lina doesn’t have any problem taking care of Liam in the middle of the night, when her and Phil have him. That’s probably the only time they get any rest! You girls think Kim is going to raise hell with Phil about Liam being around Lina???? I do!
Oh fer surrre! The calling at all hours is an indication of her anger thinking she should be the one next to Phil. Is she calling them In the middle of the night and what is an example of her manufactured Liam concerns? Lina should pull your jr boxer move and gut punch her next. Ugh!
Girls, since Kim is Catholic too, there is a perfect storm for Lina to suffer major humiliation at their church! I can see Lina flanked by both Phil and Logan leaving the situation behind. May be Katie turning around in the parking lot and flipping Kim the bird! Then Phil. taking his family home and then heading over to Kim’s to cut her to size. for not only hurting his wife, but doing it in front of their kids and parishioners!

Whooo, I think I got your response and Janet’s question wrong. The question regarding whether Kim will agree to Liam attending church with the family. Spent hours mulling over various scenarios instead of sleeping last night. I’m telling you my WPF obsession is stirring to life again.

Thanks for the new link Laura. I have several questions. One that your answer to Janet’s question answered i.e. Kim agreed to Liem being raised in the Catholic religion. My other questions have to do with Katie, Logan and Megan.
Katie, the spitfire, who to me is most like her dad. Is Phil going to expect her to babysit, and her attitude toward this child in general. She does not hold back and isn’t afraid of speaking her mind.
We already have glimpses of Logan’s vulnerability. He has received very little attention from Phil other than playing soccer at home occasionally and attending his games where I feel Phil is too judgmental. Is there going to be much one on one, say a guys night out etc.?
Megan has a boyfriend that she seems serious about. Do you think Miss Megan might suffer a bit of betrayal herself? She needs to be knocked down from that pedestal she’s placed herself on. It seemed at times that she placed most of the blame on Lina. Okay, I’m done.
Kim is Catholic too, so no question that Liam will be raised Catholic.
When you refer to Megan you mean the oldest daughter, right? She’s the one who went away to college. She didn’t have a boyfriend. But in answer to your question she will have more of a dose of reality in the sequel and better understand what her mother felt.
Having Phil’s POV gives an entire new dynamic to the story. You get to know his family more and yes you will see more one-on-one with him and Logan.

I cringe at the thought of you having to write the scene. Lina’s humiliation will be equivalent (in my opinion) to Phil’s guilt and remorse. That’s why Phil (to me) is redeemable. He feels her pain and will try to shield her from ever being devastated again, especially by his actions. Then you have the Ned’s of the world, who only think of themselves, and could care less about those left behind in their wake of destruction.

You said there will be moments of humiliation for Lina, because Phil fathered a child with another woman…..People are so judgmental..could this be one of those times? Phil talks to his brother. I wouldn’t say they’re close, close — Lina has nothing in common with her sister-in-law which probably kept the brother apart more than if that wasn’t the case.

I guarantee, if Lina being tired and not sleeping well is because of something Kim pulled, that is going to tug at Phil’s heart and up his guilt factor. His words “Are we okay?” shows how he is concerned about how much Lina can take… I bet Phil feels at times, that he is walking through a mine field.

“Are we okay?” Phil asked, in a tone low enough for only her ears.
“Of course.” Lina clasped his hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze in response to the concern in his eyes. “I’m just a little tired. I didn’t sleep well. I missed my husband.”
“Yeah?” He placed his beer on the island behind her, his eyes never leaving hers as he curved his hands around her hips. “I missed you.” He brushed his lips over hers. “I love you,” he said, his breath warm against her lips.
“I know.” Lina fisted the front of his shirt.
“Stop it!” Katie called out. “No one wants to see their parents kissing.”
Phil lifted his head slightly, pressing his forehead against Lina’s. “Remember when we wanted her to talk more?”
“Shh.” Lina tugged on his shirt. “Be nice.”

Hi Laura! When will your book on Lucas roe come out?
Hi Bianca! I’m sorry to say that book won’t be coming out until next year. I got sidetracked with a book about Nick Prossi and the sequel to a White Picket Fence. Hopefully after I finish A White Picket Fence I’ll be able to put out a few lighter romances quickly — they are easier to write.
